About entr0py The extraction economy is here. You're the raw material. And I still don’t have my mirrorshades.

entr0py is a cyberpunk fiction universe and playable browser terminal. The stories, transmissions, and game are all hosted here—a pirate broadcast server at the edge of the Feed.

This is an independent project. No platform, no gatekeepers. The stories are free. The site is hand-built.

[ Connect to entr0py -> ] Who I Am

I'm Jason Novsam. I write fiction, I build things for the web, and I made entr0py because I couldn’t sleep until I fished this parasite out of my brain and stapled it to the wall.

The cyberpunk genre's been aesthetically strip-mined for decades—neon rain, leather jackets, you know the drill. Meanwhile, the actual world caught up: our conscious experience is algorithmically curated, monetized through streaming platforms, and sold back to us as 'content.' Brain-computer interfaces are in clinical trials. We talk to machines—sometimes more than we talk to people.

The genre is more relevant than ever.

So I'm a writer. But I'm also an urbanist. That's the other half of this project. Cities were always at the heart of the promised future. I still believe they can thrive, and they have to if we want humanity to stick around a bit longer. There are two sides to this thing: boost the signal by night, fight for a better future by day.

I write in the margins of a well-loved and over-stuffed life—early mornings, late nights. Everything here was made in stolen time, which is the most honest kind.

The Fiction The Hot Night 9,000 words // First-person literary cyberpunk

A riot burns outside a corporate implant warehouse. Jack—a warehouse worker turned jailbreak surgeon—tries to outrun withdrawal and the ghost of the woman he can’t forget. Booze, tech, and peeling wallpaper.

[ Read The Hot Night -> ] Smyrna's Renegade 12,000 words // Third-person action and survival fiction

Soli raids a dormant corporate auto-farm in the Ozark borderlands on the back of her ethanol-burning motorcycle. Everything goes wrong. Off-grid settlements, drone patrols, bounty hunters, and the cost of staying free in a world that no longer values freedom.

[ Read Smyrna's Renegade -> ] Shiny Head Boy In progress // Lagos, Nigeria

Ola is a "burner" smuggling packets through Nigeria's national firewall via the implant in his skull. The implant economy here isn't corporate. It's gang-controlled, informal, dangerous. Stolen crypto gets lodged in his hardware. The wrong people come looking.

The Transmissions

In-world fragments. Anarchist instructionals, corrupted images and audio, and leaked corporate data. A great place to start with a quick read, or an even better place to dive deeper after you’ve read the fiction.

Cut the Feed Manifesto // Tech Specs

A manifesto from the operators of entr0py. Part unhinged rant, part jailbreak instructions.

The Terminal Game

entr0py features a functional browser-based terminal with a command parser, filesystem navigation, and its own narrative arc. Find it at the bottom of every page on this site. Hide the GUI for a full-screen view.

Learn commands, discover hidden files, crack encrypted archives, evade surveillance systems, and piece together the history of the people who built entr0py, all through a simulated Unix filesystem. You type commands. The system responds. The story unfolds because you went looking.

Earn abilities by finding and extracting executables from hostile filesystems that tell a story before you read a single word. Clues, puzzles, and secrets tie into the fiction. The terminal rewards close reading the same way the stories do.

Experience a demo slice of the entr0py terminal now. Progression and narrative are growing by the day. Stay tuned for regular updates.

[ Connect to entr0py -> ] The World

entr0py is set in a near-future where neural implant technology is the dominant interface for human experience. The Feed—a corporate-controlled sensory data stream—mediates entertainment, communication, commerce, and increasingly, thought itself. Disconnecting is socially deviant and physically dangerous.

The characters are warehouse workers, orphans, mechanics, bounty hunters, federal agents, gang leaders, aging anarchists, and one very temperamental motorcycle. Nobody is saving the world. They're just trying to live in it.
